LIVERPOOL PLAINS SHIRE TO HAVE A NEW MAYOR BY THE END OF THE MONTH

Two Liverpool Plains Shire councillors have thrown their hat in the ring, to become mayor.

Doug Hawkins and Paul Moules have nominated for the top spot, which will be vacated by Mayor Andrew Hope later this month.

It’s understood fellow councillor Ian Lobsey may also put his name forward, though he’s yet to formally nominate.

Mr Hope’s resignation will leave the Liverpool Plains Shire with just six councillors, until the next local government election in September 2021.

Councillors will vote on a replacement mayor by the end of the month.
