MAN CHARGED OVER ARMED ROBBERIES

A man will face court today over two armed robberies at Lake Macquarie last month.

On August 16, a man threatened to stab staff members in a store at Charlestown Square.

He left with money, but no one was injured during the incident.

Six days later on August 22, the man allegedly armed with an axe threatened staff at a Toronto supermarket, before leaving with money and cigarettes.

Just after 3.30pm yesterday, police spoke with the man on Hill End Road, Doonside in Sydney.

He allegedly ran from police was arrested soon after.

The 34-year-old was taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged.

He’ll appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
