MAN CHARGED OVER FRAUD AGAINST A CINEMA COMPANY

A man will face court, accused of defrauding Event Cinemas, over seven years.

Police allege the 40-year-old used a company credit card to create and register three businesses, racking up more than $220,000 worth of fraudulent charges, between 2010 and 2017.

His arrest comes after the company launched an internal investigation into the charges.

The man has worked for the company at cinemas in Tuggerah Lakes, Lake Macquarie, Glendale and Kotara.

He’s been charged with dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception, and will front Newcastle Local Court on March 14.
