PFAS contamination concerns have reached Newcastle, with the toxic chemical found in the soil at Hamilton’s old fire station.
An independent report has been conducted, which recommends an assessment of the area in a 500-metre radius.
The Environment Protection Authority says it will meet with the property’s owner in January to discuss remediation.
It’s unclear what impact the contamination poses to the health of those nearby.
