FIRES IN THE CLARENCE VALLEY UNDER CONTROL

Firefighters are working on containment lines and back-burning as they battle several bushfires in the Clarence Valley.

More than 14-thousand hectares have been destroyed over the past eight days.

The fire in the Punchbowl area, north west of Grafton, whipped up under strong north westerly winds yesterday afternoon, threatening buildings on Stockyard Creek Road.

That fire, along with others near Glenreagh and Jackadgery are now being monitored by authorities.
