‘GIRL TO WOMAN’ FESTIVAL AXED

The controversial ‘Girl to Woman’ Festival will NOT go ahead after organisers pulled the plug.

The festival has come under fire for its alleged links to Universal Medicine, which a Supreme Court jury previously branded a “socially harmful cult.”

The decision came hours before Ballina Shire Council was set to debate a motion which could have seen the festival banned from council venues.

Despite this, Councillor Keith Williams says changes to Council’s statement of business ethics needed to be amended.

“We wanted to make sure that our staff where empowered, that if that arose again they could make a clear decision not to hire facilities to groups like that. We think that was an important step achieved today.”

In a Facebook post, organisers say they’re looking forward to a new era of the ‘Girl to Woman’ Festival in 2019.
