PUPPY STABBER AVOIDS JAIL TIME

A Gold Coast chef who repeatedly stabbed her puppy after it pulled washing off the line has been banned from owning a dog for five years.

Samarah McKay narrowly avoided jail time – instead she was given a three month suspended sentence.

In June, the young mother used a kitchen knife to stab her five-month-old pup Kobi in the neck three times.

The german shepherd-cross-kelpie needed emergency surgery and has since found a new family.

Today a magistrate described McKay’s actions as cruel, reckless and callous in the extreme.

She was ordered to pay the vet and re-homing costs of $2,500.
