COUNCIL LOOKING TO REDUCE DEER POPULATION AROUND MURRURUNDI
Deer numbers around Murrurundi continue to surge, as the drought worsens.
Now, the Upper Hunter Shire Council is looking at methods of reducing them.
The surge is taking a toll on property and environmental habitats, and causing traffic hazards.
Hunter Local Land Services will undertake an aerial control program next month, recommending that it be followed up by a ground-based operation in November.
Council is seeking community input on the matter, at a meeting to be held on October 8 from 6pm at the RSL Hall.
