BEN SMITH’S TRAINER’S LICENSE SUSPENDED

It’s been a dramatic day for Group-1 winner, Ben Smith, who’s had his trainer’s license suspended indefinitely.

Racing New South Wales today conducted an inspection of his stable, vehicle and residence, after learning two of his horses had returned irregular samples.

A number of substances were seized and will be analysed.. Smith’s phone and laptop were also confiscated for the purposes of forensic imaging.

He didn’t enter a plea to the charge of refusing to provide evidence, but did plead guilty to providing false evidence.

Smith is banned from starting a horse in a race until the charges are determined.
