BETTER FLOOD WARNINGS ON THE WAY FOR GRAFTON

Authorities will be able to give more accurate flood warnings in the Clarence Valley.

Council now has more detailed mappings of the Clarence River bed, after working with researchers from Geo Science Australia.

The Mayor says emergency services will be better equipped to provide timely advice about flood waters approaching Grafton and other towns.

“Council has now the data which we will be providing to the SES and the Bureau of Meteorology through our partners to be able to give more accurate river readings and data at our next flood,” said Mayor Richie Williamson.

The Valley’s last major flood was in January 20-13.
