The Oz Grom Junior Open at Lennox Head has been called off for today after a shark knocked a surfer off his board.
The surfer wasn’t injured but the encounter follows an attack at nearby Ballina yesterday that critically injured a 32-year-old surfer.
Contest organisers made the decision to suspend today’s competition and emergency services crews using jet skiis and helicopters continue to monitor the area.
