GROUP 2 LEAGUE COACH SETS HIS SIGHTS ON NEXT YEAR’S GRAND FINAL
The coach of the Group 2 representative team says his players have proven they can mix it with the state’s best
despite losing their first ever Tier 2 grand final.
The South Coast-based Group 7 side was too strong for their northern counterparts, who went down 30 points to 22 in Dubbo on Saturday.
At one stage, Group 2 lead 22-16 but Group 7 came back strongly to win.
The Redbacks fading in the final five minutes.
Group 2 Coach Warren Gilkinson says, “well it gives the guys something to strive for next year you know we’ve shown we can get to a grand final so we just sort of try to go one better next year and win it.”
As runners-up, the Redbacks were a much improved side compared with last year’s squad, which was thrashed by Group 3.
