SENTENCING UNDERWAY OVER SHOOTING DEATH OF JOSHUA MAYNARD

A judge has told the Supreme Court in Newcastle, that sentencing a 19-year-old over the shooting death of a Raymond Terrace father, will be one of his most difficult decisions.

Proceedings began today for Daniel Forbes, who’s pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of 21-year-old Joshua Maynard at Raymond Terrace in June last year.

Judge Ian Harrison said that, in sentencing Forbes, he’ll take into account the teen has no criminal record, was otherwise of good character, and has a low likelihood of re-offending.

Forbes will be sentenced on December 16.

  1. daniel is a good kid wrong place wrong time
so hearing that Judge Ian Harrison is taking everything into account is great news,as so many others were there that morn along with many that new & they all keep quiet & let daniel take the fall.& who made the call ?
A mothers child died & a father died.
but daniel should not be the 1 to lay blame, the man who pulled trigger & all the fights be for are to blame.
this needs to stop be fore it gets to the point of no return & deaths, young ones just dont know how quick you can loss it all.
