TAMWORTH COUNCIL PUTS DROUGHT SURVEY ON HOLD

A survey on the impacts of drought has been put on hold.

Tamworth councillors feel they didn’t get a say on the questionnaire, which was put to residents earlier this year.

Locals answered 42 questions about their economic experiences in the big dry.

Now, council will re-evaluate what it asked – as councillors want to focus on future water security.

“Things like the Baiada investment, who’ve firmly stated that they will not invest in Tamworth until the water security is improved. They’re the things that we need to capture and it needs to be captured in a way that is credible.”

A decision on whether to get an external body to run the ‘Pre-Drought Management Plan Review’ survey has also been deferred.
