TEVEN RESIDENTS AMP UP THEIR PROTEST AGAIN PROPOSED ASPHALT PLANT

Tintenbar and Teven residents are amping up their calls to halt a proposed asphalt plant in their town.

It comes after the multi-national company Fulton Hogan sent a letter to several residents outlining their plans to construct a petrochemical plant.

Although a development application hasn’t been lodged, long time locals say the environmental and social impacts could be disastrous.

“We’ve got 3 young kids and we moved here because of the clean air for the kids. I come from an industrial town and moved away because there was no way I was raising kids next to an industry.”

Hundreds are expected to attend a meeting tonight, opposing the plant.

“We’ve actually got the Deputy Mayor speaking as well so we’re just hoping to inform the community of really what’s happened because there’s been no community consultation.”

NBN News has contacted Fulton Hogan for comment.
