Police are investigating whether a three-car crash on the mid north coast this morning was the result of an act of sabotage on a local MP.
A campaign bus used by Member for Port Macquarie, Peter Besseling, leaked oil on the Oxley Highway, causing other vehicles to crash.
Mr Besseling says a preliminary mechanical inspection of the bus has revealed that wiring for the oil early warning system appeared to have been cut, and that the sump plug had been loosened.
Three people were taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital as a result of the crashes.
