QUEENSLAND MAN CHARGED OVER DOUBLE FATAL

A Queensland man, charged over a Hunter crash that claimed the lives of two of his workmates, will face Newcastle Local Court in August.

Adam Anthony Bortic was excused from his first appearance at Raymond Terrace Local Court today, where the matter was adjourned.

Bortic was allegedly behind the wheel of a Mazda hatchback which slammed into a tree at Port Stephens in April, killing 34-year-old Jamie Ward and 29-year-old Lauri Juerman.

The 31-year-old is facing four charges, including two of dangerous driving occasioning death.
