NO NEED FOR ALARM AS HAZARD REDUCTION BURNS TAKE PLACE
There’s plenty of smoke across the lower Hunter today, but no need for alarm, with the Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW conducting a series of hazard reduction burns, including a seven hectare burn near the Newcastle Inner City Bypass at Kotara South.
Authorities are reminding anyone with asthma or breathing conditions to reduce outdoor activities, with the hazard reductions creating an increase in smoke across the region.
The community is also being reminded to only call 000 if they see an unattended fire.
