RFS SAYS MT KAPUTAR FIRE COULD BURN FOR WEEKS

Killarney Gap Road near Narrabri remains closed as fire crews continue to fight an intense blaze in the Mount Kaputar National Park at Sawn Rocks.

The fire has now scorched almost 4000-hectares and is currently burning in steep, heavily timbered country across the Kaputar Range.

Crews have been working along Killarney Gap Road today conducting back burns to protect properties and prevent the fire from moving further north.

The Rural Fire Service says the fire is expected to burn for days, if not weeks.
