MAN ACCUSED OF RUNNING DOWN ANOTHER MAN NEAR MAITLAND
A man has allegedly run down another man with his car near Maitland over the weekend.
Police say a 27-year-old man drove to a pre-arranged meeting with a 38-year-old man at Oakhampton Road in Oakhampton, at around 6.30pm on Saturday.
The driver is accused of deliberately running down the older man, allegedly hitting him with the car several more times before leaving the scene.
The 38-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries and released the next day.
Police yesterday arrested a 27-year-old man at a home on Bligh Street in Telarah, and also allegedly seized an unlicensed firearm from the home.
The younger man now faces a range of charges, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, possessing an unauthorised firearm, and driving while disqualified.
