Police are appealing for help from the public after a woman was sexually assaulted, robbed and stabbed in the Northern Rivers.
The 43-year-old woman awoke to find an unknown man inside her home on Little Keen Street in Lismore sometime after 4am on Saturday.
Police say the man, armed with a knife, sexually assaulted the woman before demanding money and striking her on the head with an unknown object.
The woman’s screaming alerted neighbours, and the man fled.
The woman was treated by paramedics before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Police are now trying to identify a man described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in his late teens/early 20s, with black curly hair, and green eyes.
