LIBRARY EMBRACING NEW TECHNOLOGY WITH E-BOOKS
Newcastle Region Library is embracing digital technology, offering 3,000 new e-books.
Members can now borrow titles digitally by accessing the library’s webpage, and downloading them onto their e-readers, smartphones and tablets, all free of charge.
According to Library Manager David Jenkins, “It’s certainly a burgeoning area of our service, it will run alongside our traditional services of hard copy books and DVDS and so on.”
While it’s hoped there will always be a place for the physical library building, e-books are an increasingly popular way to enjoy a good story.

This project is not costing council $300,000. The initial purchase of these e-books for approximately $300,000 was funded through a State Library grant and it is hoped that similar funds will be available as time progresses.
Apologies from NBN – we have taken the initial line out of the post. Thanks for the clarification.
