SEARCH CALLED OFF FOR BOY SWEPT OUT TO SEA AT LIGHTHOUSE BEACH

The search for an 11-year-old boy who was dragged out to sea by a rip at Port Macquarie’s Lighthouse Beach has been called off.

The boy – from the ACT – was with his mother and 17-year-old brother when the tragedy unfolded.

Despite efforts from his elder brother to save him, the surf conditions were too powerful.

Police divers, lifeguards, marine rescue and the Westpac Helicopter have been involved in the search since Wednesday afternoon.
