A bushfire which burnt through scrub in East Lismore yesterday afternoon was caused by a car that was deliberately lit.
Police say the car was stolen and involved in a police pursuit earlier in the day.
While the blaze did spread through nearby bush, fire crews were quick to respond.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
