The smell of rubber was in the air at Gresford, as speed demons took over the main street.
But it wasn’t for drag races – more a down hill dash with a difference – the Gresford Billy Cart Derby.
This was the first year I missed this event (due to an unfortunate injury resulting in a broken bone) & I was bitterly disappointed!
The Gresford Billy Cart Derby is a great local event suitable for people of all ages. It is a fantastic family day out with the main entertainment (being the billy cart races) free to enjoy, other entertainment at a small price & food/drink starting at the cheap but bloody delicious sausage sizzle (run local sporting groups) to more expensive (but still very yummy) sit down meals.
Local sporting groups, the school, the CWA & the fire brigade all have stalls or raffles to raise much needed funds for their own group & the money raised by the main event is distributed to local charities.
If you have never been before you need to get your family there next Easter Saturday…come early & stake out your spot!
