MAN CHARGED OVER ‘UPSKIRTING’ OFFENCE

A 35-year-old man has been charged over an alleged ‘upskirting’ offence near Taree earlier this week, with police alleging insensitive photos from the event have been found on the man’s phone.

Officers were called to a shopping centre in Wingham on Monday afternoon after reports a man was behaving in an offensive manner inside a women’s toilet block.

Following inquiries officers arrested the man at a home near Taree yesterday afternoon.

Officers searched the man’s mobile phone and found numerous images allegedly depicting women having their photo taken without consent.

They also seized a number of electronic devices for further forensic analysis.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Taree Local Court next month.
