BOLT GUN ALLEGEDLY USED IN POKOLBIN ASSAULT

A man has allegedly used a bolt gun to assault another man during an altercation in the Hunter Valley yesterday.

After meeting online, the two men attended a licensed premises on Broke Road in Pokolbin, about 12pm yesterday afternoon.

The men, aged 55 and 67, then left Pokolbin and travelled to a home on Wollombi Road in Paynes Crossing, about 46km away.

While at the home, the 67-year-old man was allegedly assaulted with a bolt gun, before being threatened with a firearm.

The older man was able to flee and stop a passing motorist, who took the man to hospital where he was treated for two fractured vertebrae and a laceration to his neck.

Police inquiries led them to a house on Casey Drive in Singleton, where a 55-year-old was arrested and charged with cause grievous bodily harm with intent.
