CALLS FOR EXTRA CARE AFTER GASTRO OUTBREAKS
With outbreaks of gastroenteritis in the south of the state, doctors are calling for extra care to be taken on the mid north coast.
Local GP Adrian Gilliand says his practice has seen an increase in the number of patients suffering from the virus.
“We have seen more Gastro than we usually see at this time of year, with kids getting sick and there has also been a couple of outbreaks out of nursing homes as well.”
Parents of school aged children and people in contact with the elderly are urged to be vigilant.
“The most important thing to prevent outbreaks is washing your hands. So every time that you go to the toilet or handle food, you should wash your hands.”
