Body located in search for missing man

The 72-year-old was last seen in November 2022

Human remains were found by a bushwalker at Belmont Wetlands on Saturday, and they are believed to that of John Davidson who has been missing since November last year.

A number of state-wide public appeals for information were also made through the media and the NSW Police Force’s social media pages.

The 72-year-old who had dementia was last seen at a home at Mount Hutton…his disappearance sparking a number of searches which involved police, Pol Air, SES, and family and friends.

On Saturday 1 July, a member of the public was bushwalking in the Belmont Wetlands, near the Kalaroo Road fire trails, when they located human remains and personal belongings, which will undergo forensic testing.

In a statement on social media his family thanked the Lake Macquarie community for their efforts and concern…and they are relieved to be able finally lay him to rest.
