In the wake of London’s horrific Grenfell Tower blaze, Newcastle Council is looking to conduct a fire audit of the city’s buildings.
If the move goes ahead, it’s expected to take two months before at-risk buildings are identified.
The audit would involve finding certain building materials, specifically flammable cladding, similar to that which fuelled the London inferno and the Lacrosse building fire in Melbourne three years ago.
