A man is in custody after he allegedly barricaded himself and a women inside a Hunter home for 8 hours last night.
Police arrived at the home in Laguna, 50km south-west of Cessnock, responding to reports of shots fired.
They saw a man inside the house at around 10pm, allegedly armed with a firearm.
A perimeter was established and specialist police were called to the scene on Murrays Run Road.
About 6:30 this morning, the man was taken into police custody and a number of firearms secured.
A woman, who is believed to have been in the house, is assisting police.
There have been no reports of injuries and investigations are continuing.
