HURRICANES HOPEFUL OF HARBOUR RETURN

The Hunter Hurricanes say they’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response to their plans to play a game in Newcastle Harbour.

The inaugural contest was supposed to take place over the weekend, but unfavourable weather conditions saw games against Sydney University transferred to the Hurricanes’ traditional home – Lambton Pool.

Unfortunately the home side suffered heavy defeats.

The Hunter women lost 14-2 on Saturday, and then by 10 on Sunday.

It was a similar story for the men, as the league-leading Lions claimed back to back victories, despite another impressive performance by American Chris Whitelegge in goals.

The Hurricanes are now preparing to host the Balmain Tigers in Newcastle Harbour this Saturday
