An incident involving three people on the Gold Coast has resulted in a man being taken to hospital with serious spinal injuries.
Police say that around 2:30am on Saturday morning, a man and a woman were involved in a dispute outside a Blake Street address in Southport, when another man allegedly intervened.
The second man, aged 23, allegedly struck the first man, aged 36, causing him to collapse onto the ground.
The victim sustained a serious spinal injury and was transported to hospital for treatment.
The 23-year-old man, from Bundall, has been charged with grievous bodily harm.
He will appear in court on Monday.
