POLICE CATCH MAN AFTER MULTIPLE HIGH SPEED PURSUITS

A 19-year-old has been arrested after allegedly attempting to speed away from police on the Central Coast.

Police say the man tried to flee officers on three separate occasions, and was caught when he eventually crashed into a concrete barrier.

He was first detected speeding behind the wheel of a Toyota Hilux on the Pacific Highway at Wyoming.

Officers initially gave chase, but pulled back due to safety concerns.

The Hilux was later spotted in Gosford, and the driver was briefly pulled over before he allegedly sped away.

Again, officers gave chase but had to abandon the pursuit over safety concerns.

Unmarked police then saw the Hilux travelling through Narara, but when they attempted to stop the 19-year-old, he crossed to the wrong side of the road, leading to another pursuit through Lisarow, Ourimbah and Somersby.

After more than half an hour of evading police, the man crashed into a concrete barrier at the intersection of Wisemans Ferry Road and the M1.

He’s accused of resisting arrest as officers tried to remove him from the vehicle.

He was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously (x 3), resist officer in execution of duty and exceed speed > 45 km/h.

He was refused bail and will appear at Gosford Local Court today.
