Water tainted by blue-green algae is now posing a health risk at the Telarah Lagoon and Walka Water Works in Maitland.
Testing this week indicated it’s now at the most toxic red level.
It’s believed recent warm temperatures and nutrients in the water have provided an ideal environment for the bloom to thrive.
