A man has pleaded guilty to assaulting a policeman at Wallsend in the early hours of Sunday morning.
24-year-old Daniel Pettersson attacked an officer after police were called to a domestic dispute at a house on Close Street.
The constable was taken to hospital and treated for injuries to his face and neck.
Petterson has been refused bail – sentencing proceedings are due to begin in March.
