BAIT SHOP WORKER STABBED BY ARMED ROBBER

A male worker at a Stockton bait shop has been stabbed in the arm, while chasing down an armed robber.

Police say the balaclava-wearing bandit stormed the Fullerton Street store around 7pm yesterday, waiving a knife and baton.

The 40-year-old and a customer gave chase when the man took-off with a handbag, but he managed to break free and jump into a waiting car.

One of the men suffered a cut to the arm during the scuffle. He’s been treated at John Hunter Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, police are also investigating a hold-up at a Broadmeadow service station.

They say a man with a gun walked into the Brunker Road business at around 11:30pm and demanded money from the register.

The worker behind the counter complied, handing over cash and cigarettes.

The robber’s described as between 25 and 40 years old and was wearing a balaclava at the time.

The two robberies are not believed to be linked.
