HENDRA CRISIS BRINGS IN EXTRA CONTROLLERS
The Wollongbar Department of Primary Industries has taken on extra staff on the mid north coast to battle the Hendra virus.
Experts from across the state have been called in to monitor horses and help control the disease at a local level.
“I guess what we are trying to do is make sure that we’ve got the resources and co-ordination locally so that we can address all those issues.”
Authorities say they are continuing to test animals on affected properties.
A community meeting will be held at the Mullumbimby Ex services Club at 7pm on Thursday.
“It’s really an opportunity for the public to ask questions on what concerns them.”
