The Liberal Party has responded to Opposition calls, for Newcastle MP Tim Owen to explain a $7,000 donation from a property developer.
Labor claims electoral records show Mr Owen received the funds from Ruth Dossor from Evergreen Living in November 2010.
Under New South Wales law, political donations from property developers are banned.
Speaking on behalf of Mr Owen, the Liberal Party says if questions were raised about a donor or donation, it would immediately refer them to the election funding authority, and follow its rulings and directions.
