A 69-year-old man was airlifted hospital this morning, following a crash on the outskirts of Bonny Hills.
Ocean Drive was closed for several hours after a car and motorcycle, both traveling southbound, collided shortly before 8:30.
The rider was taken to John Hunter hospital in Newcastle with serious leg injuries.
“The rider was very lucky in that one of the vehicles traveling on the road at that time contained a local doctor and nurse who administered first aid at the scene,” Chief Inspector Paul Fuller said.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
