STU KENNEDY MISSES OUT ON QUARTERFINALS IN PORTUGAL

Le-Ba surfer Stu Kennedy has narrowly missed out on qualifying for the quarter finals of the Rip Curl Pro in Portugal, losing to Hawaii’s Sebastian Zietz in Round five.

Kennedy started off strong, taking the lead, but a  solid tube ride by Zietz at the 17 minute mark pushed the Hawiian into the lead.

It was neck and neck for the remainder of the heat,  Kennedy, hoping to recover the lead with less than ten seconds on the clock.

“Looking for a final wave, snaps it off the lip, controls the carve and one more blast on a small inside wave”

But it wasn’t enough, Kennedy narrowly losing the heat with a final score of 8.43 to Zietz’s 8.80.
