TAREE WOMBATS BOWL THEIR WAY TO STATE

Tenpin’s Taree Wombats have advanced through to the state finals, after coming first in their zone at this year’s Country Challenge.

The men’s team took out the win with 244 points, against a strong Gosford side on 240.

“We’ve come up against some good competition in our zone, so we’re quite happy we’ve actually qualified first this year.”

It’s the 10th year the team has qualified for the state final, which will be held in Newcastle next month.

“Most of us bowl once or twice a week so everyone’s trying to practice to hone their skills and basically try to get as many strikes as possible.”

Meanwhile the ladies’ Taree Diamonds missed out on a finals spot by just 2 points.
