WORK ON ENERGY UPGRADE BEGINS IN KINCUMBER

Work has begun on Energy Australia’s power line upgrade from Avoca Beach to Empire Bay, despite the concern of some Kincumber residents.

The 66 kilovolt power line is part of a $50-million power upgrade to help meet the increasing demand for power within the region.

However many residents believe there has not been enough community consultation.

“We’ve asked for public meetings and they have said they won’t give us a public meeting there has been public meetings for other projects, Wamberal, Empire Bay, they will not give us that meeting.”

Energy Australia says officers visited more than 150 homes in the area last year, but are yet to deliver the final determination of the project to council.
