Geoscience Australia has confirmed a small earthquake was recorded near the Upper Hunter town of Muswellbrook this afternoon.
The quake, measuring 3.2 on the Richter Scale, was recorded at a 3:45pm at a depth of 12-kilometres underground.
There have been no confirmed damage report, but some mining companies suspended operations and evacuated workers as a precaution.
