COUNCIL CALLS FOR SPEED BUMPS TO BE RIPPED OUT

Wyong Council is calling on Roads and Maritime Services to remove recently installed speed bumps at Toukley, following community opposition.

The bumps were installed last month, but residents say they’re already deteriorating and are simply a band-aid solution.

Council has suggested a 40 kilometre zone be introduced through the town centre as an alternative.

The speed bumps were funded by the Federal Government black spot program.

Meanwhile, council has decided to give the Ourimbah Rugby Club a helping hand, following last week’s devastating fire, that destroyed its canteen and storage room.

Council will help store equipment and maintain the grounds…and its also encouraging the club to apply for a community grant of up to $20,000 to get back on its feet.
