CHOPPER CREW PRAISES LOST TEENS

The Hunter’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter crew has praised the quick thinking of two teenagers who were winched to safety, after becoming lost in bushland near Seal Rocks.

A 16-year-old boy and girl used a fire to gain the chopper crew’s attention after losing their way in the dark last night.

Westpac’s Barry Walton said their actions dramatically helped their situation.

“No doubt trying to find them on the ground was going to be very hard, and the fact that the aircraft was able to locate them due to the fire made it a much quicker response to get them to safety,” said Mr Walton.

The pair received medical attention but were cleared of any injuries.
