Orica maintains it’s taking significant steps to reduce pollution from its Kooragang Island plant, amid the release of an EPA survey in which fine particulate matter was detected by the Stockton air quality monitoring station.
The suburb ranked highest in Newcastle for ammonium nitrate particles.
The EPA says salt-spray laden air over the summer months, combined with ammonium nitrate, increased the air density readings.
