After a month long dry spell, a sudden downpour dumped up to 10 millimetres of rain in just minutes.
The heavy rainfall was accompanied by an electrical storm, with dozens of lightning strikes.
The wild weather forced waterpolo players from the pool, with Friday night’s grand final game suspended.
There are no reports of major damage.
