Jets midfielder Chloe Logarzo and former skipper Emily van Egmond will have the chance to help Australia appear at the Rio Olympics, after being chosen in the Matildas squad for the qualifying tournament in Japan later this month.
Coach Alen Stajcic is confident van Egmond will be fit when she arrives in Osaka, with her Women’s Bundesliga club playing its first game of the season this weekend.
Logarzo took over from Van Egmond in the Jets’ midfield for the recent W-League season, and was one of Newcastle’s best.
