MATILDAS SECURE QUALIFICATION FOR WORLD CUP

Sam Kerr has rescued the Matildas with an 85th minute equaliser, locking in their spot for the Women’s World Cup in France next year. The berth confirmed with a heart-stopping one-all draw against Japan, during their Asian Cup clash in Jordan. MATILDA’S ASIAN CUP SQUAD NAMED

Emily Van Egmond has been selected in the Matildas’ 23-woman squad for the Asian Cup in Jordan. The Jets favourite now heads into camp in WA to prepare for Monday’s friendly against Thailand. Next month’s Asian Cup will also serve as a qualifier for the 2019 World Cup. Fellow Jet Hannah Brewer missed out on Alen Stajcic’s squad.

BREWER AND VAN EGMOND HEADING TO PORTUGAL WITH MATILDAS

W-League Jets Emily van Egmond and Hannah Brewer have been rewarded for their great season with Newcastle by being selected in the 22-player Matildas squad for the upcoming Algarve Cup in Portugal. The Aussie side has been grouped with Norway, China and the host nation, and will kick off the tournament with a game against the Norwegians on March 1. Post-cup, the Matildas will return home to continue preparations for the 2018 Asian Cup in Jordan.

VAN EGMOND BOUND SIGNS WITH ORLANDO

Emily Van Egmond has finished her season at the Jets by presenting the Lord Mayor with her jersey. Van Egmond says it’s the most enjoyable campaign she’s had in the W-League, her focus now shifts to the Matilda’s, who are about to embark on a busy run of matches.
